Processing - LiDAR

LiDAR data is usually collected as a point cloud. Processing this point cloud information into a format that is uniform and usable is usually an involved process. The GeoInformation Group (TGG) has done this processing and the data is available as regular grids with intervals of 1 or 2 m. In addition many of the data is supplied as First Pass and a Last Pass, this is also referred to as First Pulse and Last Pulse. The First Pulse provides height values for the top of the canopy while the Last Pulse provides height values for the bottom of the canopy and provides information about the shape of the terrain (see image below).
