Key Facts - TopSat

Landmap announced in November 2007 a new agreement with Infoterra for the acquisition of TopSat imagery. The agreement stipulated the right of the UK academic community to order new images for any location around the globe. (Except UK locations). This agreement ended in August 2009.

Order Process

During the acquisition period there was a limit of three requests per week. Landmap coordinates the requests for acquisition of the data. Users were asked to specify the information below:

  • coordinates in latitude, longitude for the centre point of your area of interest. Please note, each scene is either 18 x 12 km for multispectral or 17 x 17 km for panchromatic
  • possible acquisition time window of interest
  • a short description of the application and possible use of the images for your work in education and research

Landmap users during this time found the acquisition of TopSat very useful especially for having raster imagery to plan fieldwork trips and to georeference during a field visit. For further information about TopSat, please see the FAQ.
