New Training Materials Required

Submitted 7th June 2010

As part of JISC's new mandate to support the user community the Landmap Service is tasked with acquiring new training materials to be added to the new Learning Zone.

We are asking members of the academics community to come forward with ideas for new training courses such as:

1. Advanced ASAR image understanding and retrieval of bio-physical parameters.

2. Atmospheric Correction and applications for Land and Sea Colour Mapping

3. Applications for Hyperspectral imagery

Here are some ideas for extra courses that we would like members of the community to produce:

1. Integration of Landmap OGC (WMS and WCS) and Image Streaming Services within teaching of GIS and Image Processing Courses.

2. GRASS GIS module and other open source tools for GIS and Image Processing

If you would like to write one of the above courses please contact us, we do offer some financial recompense of around £1500 to authors of these courses or suggested courses that are deemed suitable through this scheme.

Authors will be expected to enter into a consultancy agreement with the University of Manchester and accept a copyright agreement that will allow Landmap to make the training materials available on our website and for inclusion in JISC repositories of training materials. The agreements can be emailed to the author once the details of the work have been discussed.
