Q. Does the Landmap Service have any tutorials which provide examples of how to use satellite data for different applications?
A.Yes the Landmap Service provides a 10 module Image Processing Course for Intermediate/Advanced users which covers a variety of applications from Land Cover Classification to Coastal Mapping. The course requires your institutes central username and password for access. The Learning Materials page also provides links to other useful online tutorials provided by the Canada Centre of Remote Sensing.
Q. Does the Landmap Service have any use case materials?
A.The Landmap Service has an example of how radar data have been used by postgraduate students at the University of Nottingham as part of their M.Sc. course. The Landmap Service is always keen to collaborate with UK institution to increase usage of the service. In addition over the next 12 months several UK institutions will be providing use case examples for a wide range of applications.
Q. Are there any restrictions on using the Landmap Service data archive?
A.Yes, prior to any student or researcher using the service an online licensing agreement form must be completed by the institute the user attends. Once the three licensing agreements detailed on the online form have been accepted and the institute is registered then the user at the institute can begin to use the protected areas of the service (downloading data and Image Processing Course). The first time an individual users goes to a protected area of the website an individual user registration form will appear which must be completed and submitted. Once we have received your information you will be sent to your institutes authentication page to log-in using your central username and password you then will be able to download data and access the Image Processing Course. Please note that there is no charge for the Landmap Service.
Q. If there is a useful tutorial I have produced how can I get it published on the Landmap Service website?
A. In the first instance please send details of the tutorial into the helpdesk with a link or attached documentation to the tutorial. A member of the Landmap team will then contact you to discuss further.
Q.What other help is available from the service?
A.The service provides detailed information about the datasets offered for download including Key Facts, Characteristics, Processing Details and Support. The service also runs a helpdesk where enquiries will be answered Mon - Fri 9:00 - 17:00. The team is open to potential collaborations to increase usage of the Datasets or Learning Materials. All the service publications are available online which are the output of our dissemination and outreach activities.
